It is with mixed emotions that my family announce the sale of Wickliffe Southern Operations to Blue Star. The actual date of this sale is effective September 4th 2017.
I am proud of the Southern business. Odelia and I have been involved with the Southern Business since 2004 with the acquisitions of Kalamazoo, Raven Print, Wyatt Wilson, Wickliffe and Taieri Print and we have made many friends in the South Island. The history of these companies stretches back many years to the extent of having seen the end of World War 2!
My immediate reaction post the 2011 earthquake, despite the catastrophic loss of the business through damage to plant and equipment, was focused on the wellbeing of my Christchurch staff. I have no regrets and I am delighted to witness the rebuilding journey post-earthquake and installation of new replacement presses and our relocation in a new building.
The decision to sale has largely arisen from my desire to step back and follow my faith. We believe that this ownership transition is in the best interest of our staff, customers and suppliers and have every confidence that this is a positive move for the people.
The Dunedin business will continue during the transition, serving both the new owners and the existing Wickliffe (North) business.
The D’Souza family (my son Dayne and daughter Deanne) remain in the print business and look forward to taking leadership of the new Wickliffe. We look forward to following our family business closely and have every confidence in its sustainability and success.
